Install and start.

SwitchBuilder Free is an early-access extension for desktop SketchUp. It does not support SketchUp for Web or iPad.

Compatibility

• Target: SketchUp 2021 or newer for macOS and Windows.
• Verified development environment: SketchUp 2026 on macOS.
• Windows and older supported versions need broader field testing.
• No renderer or native library is required. Free works offline.

Install

1. Download the RBZ file without unzipping it.
2. In desktop SketchUp, open Extension Manager.
3. Choose Install Extension and select the downloaded RBZ.
4. Accept SketchUp’s installation prompt, then restart SketchUp.
5. Open SwitchBuilder from the Extensions menu or its toolbar.

Update

Download the newer RBZ and install it through Extension Manager. Restart SketchUp. Keep only one SwitchBuilder edition installed at a time. Back up important models before an early-access update.

Remove

Use Extension Manager to disable or uninstall SwitchBuilder, then restart SketchUp. Removing the extension does not delete geometry already placed in a model.

Free features

• One- and two-position horizontal or vertical frames.
• All included module types and finishes.
• Low- and high-detail geometry for new assemblies.
• Frame border, corner radius, mounting height and local presets.
• English and Czech interface.

Known limitations

• Geometry is generic and manufacturer-neutral, not an ordering or electrical-certification system.
• Automatic mounting height uses model Z=0 and applies only to near-vertical faces.
• Assemblies inside shared parent components may require making the parents unique before later editing in PRO.
• Presets are stored locally and are not synchronised between computers.

Email novak.marek.93@gmail.com with the SwitchBuilder version, SketchUp version, operating system, steps to reproduce and a screenshot if possible. Do not send confidential client models.
